A natural supplement to help reduce fat stores in overweight horses and regain health and vitality.
TRIM™ helps strip off ‘cresty’ necks and abnormal fat deposits safely and easily.
TRIM™ provides many specific nutrients, including:
- Magnesium, which has a role in supporting normal metabolic function and glucose utilisation in body cells, especially with diets low in magnesium.
- Organic chromium, for natural regulation of glucose metabolism.
- Choline and manganese, which have a role in the metabolism of fats.
- Vitamin C to help production of metabolism co-factors and breakdown fats in the body.
- Many other vitamins and minerals that act in synergy to support normal sugar and fat metabolism, including B group vitamins and organic zinc, which are especially important when feeding restricted, weight-reducing diets.
Combine TRIM™ supplementation with a reduced soluble sugar (water soluble carbohydrate (WSC)) intake by soaking hay or feeding a low GI (low calorie) diet for effective weight management.

Directions for Use |
TRIM™ is formulated to provide a range of nutrients which have a role in normal metabolic functions. These nutrients have been selected to make-up shortfalls in the diets of horses restricted to low GI or low calorie rations, especially when hay is soaked to remove sugars and non-structural carbohydrates, which also leaches out many important water soluble nutrients. Magnesium has a role in maintaining normal metabolism and is often inadequate in low GI diets. Chromium, included only in an organic ‘chelated’ form, is considered to have a role in the normal regulation of glucose metabolism. Manganese and choline has a role in the metabolism of fats. The other selected vitamins have roles in general metabolism for optimum health and vitality.
Supplementation Rates Providing at least 30 minutes of exercise at the walk and trot each day is also an important adjunct to weight reduction in horses and ponies. One level scoopful of TRIM™ delivers 20g. Horses 350-600kg bodyweight 20g (1 scoopful) morning and evening (40g daily). Ponies/Minatures 120-350kg bodyweight 10g (½ scoopful) morning and night (20g daily).
Soaking hay leaches out many soluble trace-minerals, vitamins, and salts. A daily dietary supplement of trace-minerals and other vitamins, such as Kohnke’s Own® Cell-Provide™, or Kohnke’s Own® Cell-Perform™, as well as a salt mix, is recommended to meet shortfalls in the diet, especially when soaked hay is the roughage base of the calorie controlled ration.
NOTE: Restricting grass intake and feeding soaked hay should form the basis of a calorie controlled diet. Hay is best soaked for 60 minutes in twice its volume of luke-warm water to leach out soluble sugars and limit energy intake, and then drained and air dried prior to feeding. At least half the hay by weight should be fed as soaked alfalfa hay or crumbled cubes to provide calcium and protein. If alfalfa hay or cubes are not provided, then a low GI protein supplement, such as full fat soyabean meal or rapeseed canola meal, should be included in the ration. |
